PT PNM is the third the largest Institutions that provides SME financing
Jakarta, (1/6). There are three companies that have significant role in providing SME (small and medium enterprises) Financing, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), Perum Pegadaian (pawn brokerage) and Bank Bukopin, whereas PT PNM has also provide assistance in managing SME.
”what has been done by PT PNM could be the role model for other financial institution to follow, provided that they have a real commitment to help out the SME’s, “ as explained by Deputy minister of co-operative shop and SME. As according to Agus Muharam, all three financial institutions mentioned above, has produced a quarterly report from their SME’s that has been financed by them.
They are very concern with SME, evidently their products are in line with the need of SME’s, such as Krista a product from Perum Pegadaian and Swamitra a product from Bank Bukopin.
”I would like to have all banking institutions to follow what has been practice by PNM, Perum pegadaian and Bank Bukopin , “ said Agus Muharam.
Although Agus Muharam said that there is only a little support from banking system for SME’s, especially for micro enterprises, since it is not profitable, yet there is a need to provide a regulatory framework for banking system in order to provide more contribution to the SME’s.
